RiseWell Community Services is seeking a compassionate & dedicated Peer Counselor to join our team at the Intensive Crisis Residence in Patchogue, NY. In this role, you will provide a positive role model of community functioning, informal counseling, peer support and ADL training in a licensed crisis residence providing crisis housing to people with psychiatric diagnoses.
The Crisis Residence program provides short-term residential support to persons exhibiting symptoms of mental illness who are experiencing a psychiatric crisis. Crisis residence programs provide short-term interventions to individuals experiencing crisis, to address the cause of the crisis and to avert or delay the need for acute psychiatric inpatient hospitalization or emergency room admission.
Classification: 2 Part-Time positions available.
- Part-Time Shifts: 20 hours per week (4 hours per day)
Salary: $22 Hourly
Requirements:
NYS Peer Certification. Personal or shared experience with mental illness and/or substance abuse issues. Ability and desire to assist others in mastery of independent living skills and the personal recovery process. Understanding of peer support, self-help philosophy. Clean, valid NY State Driver’s License. Fingerprinting, criminal record check, approval from NYS Office of Mental Health.
